Future of Entertainment

When movies were first available to rent, they were the size of a record album and were hard to find. Those didn't stay long. They skipped a lot and weren't the best quality. Still, many rented them and loved the experience of having the ability to play movies on their TV in their own home.

Then came the video tapes. They first came out in 2 sizes, Beta and VHS. At this time, video rental stores started popping up everywhere! You rented movies according to the size of your player. Rental stores had all the movies in both sizes. They wanted all kinds of personal information from you, and most charged a fee, as much as $50 just to be able to rent their movies. The rental fees were much higher than today. Videos were much more expensive then, even for the stores, and they were afraid you would take them and never return. Even though they were higher priced than today, the quality was not as good.

Now, you can hardly find a town, even small ones, that don't have a place to rent and/or buy movies. And now Dvds are the best.

Makes you wonder what the next "big thing" will be. I've always heard, "find out where people are going and get there first." Which means you should look to the future. My dad was involved in farming and I believe that's an occupation that will definitely cause you to plan ahead and "look down the road." When we were thirsty, he'd say, "there's water on tap." Then he would say, "People will be drinking water when they have to pay for it." Time has proven he really could see into the future!

I believe in the future there will be more entertainment clubs. The rising gas prices and the increasing popularity of computers will contribute to that. Most people, I feel, will like the convenience of getting their entertainment right out of their mailbox.

There's one I know of that's starting out with a very unique platform. The name of the club is Entertainment 4 Less. They're building the membership first, offering free lifetime memberships. Because of that, they can get cheaper prices from the vendors, thereby, passing the savings on to the membership. Another feature I like is they're going to give rewards to the customers. These can be redeemed for free merchandise or money. When have you ever bought something, liked the service and the price, and then got a check, possibly month after month, because you bought it? Don't know about you, but that sounds great to me!

Entertainment is a multi-billion dollar business. People will buy that no matter what their income. Just look around at your neighbors and friends and see what I mean!

So what is the future for entertainment? I believe it will be cheaper and most of it will be brought to your door!

My wife uses NetFlix where for a $9.00 monthly fee they simply mail her DVD selection she makes online to her and they provide a return envelope. She mails it back when she is finished watching it and they mail her next selection. All for a one monthly fee of $9.00.

This totally eliminates the brick and mortar store altogether and she just needs to walk to the mailbox.
