Black Bear Falls Resort
One of the most important things to consider when renting a cabin in Gatlinburg is location. This resort, Black Bear Falls, is in a great location if you want to be close (within 5 - 10 minutes) to Gatlinburg but not in the middle of the bustling crowd. To get there just turn at light #3 (321) in Gatlinburg. Directions to the resort and your cabin will be provided by the property management company you rent with. The first thing you will see is their resort style clubhouse. There you will find a meeting room, in use all year, and a swimming pool you can use from June through Aug. On your way to your cabin you will pass many, many cabins. Some look, and are, very easy to get to and some are way up the mountain. They built this in 4 phases. Phases 1 & 2 are at the lower level and 3 & 4 are higher up. You really don't have to worry about the roads here, they're all black top. Some may be steep though with some sharp curves. If you're going in winter, I recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Jackson Mountain Homes is the main company managing the cabins. ERA and Alpine Chalets are others. Jackson Mountain is a very reputable company in Gatlinburg. One thing I like about them is they only require you to put a $55 deposit down and you don't have to pay the rest until 30 days before you go. And that's even if you book in January for a December vacation! All the homes in Black Bear Falls are privately owned and are true log cabins. Several of their cabins are pet friendly. The cabins I've stayed in have been clean and well kept. I've found Black Bear Falls to be cheaper than some other resorts in the area. If you go during a holiday week, the rate goes up quite a bit, as they will in all the resorts. But if you get other couples to go with you and share the cost, you can actually save money renting a cabin. For one thing, you can prepare meals in your cabin. Another way you'll save is you're in an environment with all the comforts of home and will want to spend some time there unlike in a motel where you want to get ready and leave! There's 43 acres in this resort. There's natural springs, streams, beautiful ridges, and native trees. It's hard to find a secluded cabin in this resort. There's cabins everywhere! That doesn't really bother me. Most cabins have a mountain view that is totally awesome! I would highly recommend Jackson Mountain Homes for renting a cabin. I read the Gatlinburg Forum on Trip Advisor weekly and have heard some horror stories about cabins that were rented through some of the other companies. If you have something at your cabin that is not working (like no hot water), you want to be able to call them and know they will be there to fix it right away! Always rent a cabin with a reputable company. Black Bear Falls is a great resort near Gatlinburg! |
